Harry Vardon holds seven major titles including six British Opens – still an unmatched record more than a century later! In addition he popularized the overlapping grip, commonly known as the Vardon Grip, which is still widely used by golfers today.
Bobby Jones, Arnold Palmer and Sam Snead each have seven major titles to their names. Jones was an amateur who dominated in the early 20th century while Palmer and Snead were leading figures in professional golf’s television boom in the late 1950s and early 1960s.
Lastly, Gene Sarazen also holds seven majors including a career Grand Slam. He is credited with inventing the modern sand wedge which revolutionized bunker play.
